The Alliance is a group of 90+ organizations and citizens that share a common interest in the wise sustainable use and management of the North Saskatchewan Watershed. They recognized that there was a need for up-to-date, comprehensive base-line data for the basin. Presently there is a lack of coordinated information, and this has necessitated inefficient, redundant studies, impeded the ability of non-profit groups to access data and made assessment of cumulative impacts difficult.
The State of the Watershed Report will address many of these information gaps. Ecotrust funding has helped with the compilation of a GIS database and map layers that will be the foundation for the report. It is still in development but will eventually be freely available to any user group in the watershed at the NSWA website.
