Create a Culture for Success!
Getting ready for massive results.

Synergy (the 5th Step of the 6 Steps to Massive Results) involves leading your team to systematically exploit your niche according to a well-defined culture.  The crowning event of this step is the grooming of a General Manager (GM) so that you, the business owner, can step away from the day-to-day operations.

Putting in place a GM is not a trivial exercise.  It is absolutely critical that your company has reached the right stage.  If you are contemplating doing so and have not read our free report 6 Steps to Massive Results and a Business That Works Without You, click here immediately .  You could be making a huge mistake.

If you put a GM in place before you have established a niche, you won't have the focus or the profitability to support his/her salary.  If you put the GM in place before you have systemized your business and developed your team then the GM won't have procedures to follow or trained people with the discipline to follow those procedures.  Your GM will step in to fill the void (the way he/she sees fit) and you are unlikely to get the business you want.  And if you put the GM in place before you have removed yourself from all operational activities (below the management level) you will be asking the GM to manage activities that you are involved with and that usually never works - your team sees that you are still involved and continues to go you and you have an expensive lame duck for a GM.

Now, back to Step 5 in the Six Steps - Synergy.  The key to synergy is a well articulated business vision, mission, and culture that is understood, and practiced by everyone.  Businesses with a clear vision, mission, and culture attract the right team and the right customers. When you have the right team with a common desire and you provide them with the right guidelines on how they work together and for your ideal customer, you can experience some pretty amazing results.

Painting the Vision
Your vision is the guiding light of your company, something that inspires and enrolls.  It must have a higher purpose to it, not just to make more money.  Action International's vision is "World Abundance through Business Re-education ".   Action International coaches and employees believe we live in an abundant world where there are more than enough resources for everyone.  We believe that business can be a source of abundance and wealth for its employees, suppliers, customers and owners.  We believe that by helping re-educate business owners we empower them to create more abundance for the world.

Your vision is the long term goal of your company-it is the grand picture of what your business will be like when it is finished.

You as leader of your company paint that picture of the future in the form of a vision.  A common characteristic in all great leadership stories is the ability to create that vision and then be able to share it with people.

To succeed, you must paint the picture and be willing to share that vision with your team.  Every single person in your business needs to know exactly what the company vision is.  They all need to identify with it and incorporate it as their vision too.  It is from this beginning that so many success stories have evolved.  It is in the absence of this beginning that so many businesses have failed.

Stating the Mission
Your mission is the road map that shows how you will achieve your vision.  A mission statement broadly outlines your company's direction, market and serves as a guide to:

  • Who are you as a team?
  • What business are you in-what product or service do you provide?
  • Who are your clients or what are your key markets?
  • What makes you unique - what makes your product or service unique, why would the client choose you above other companies?

This last point is very important.  When you differentiate your business from the others, you won't need to compete solely on price.  Click here to find out more about how you can create your own Unique Selling Proposition (USP). And once again, your USP is discussed with all staff, and explained at length.

Here is the mission statement of a company most of us have had experience with.

McDonalds: To provide the world's best quick service restaurant experience and to be the best employer in each community around the world .

Defining Your Culture
Culture is the "rules of the game" for your business.  It is generally a 12 point statement that includes the following:

  • Your four most important values as leader of the company
  • Your team's four most important values
  • Your customer's four most important values

In conclusion, by having a well defined vision, mission, and culture, you will be successful at finding the right people that fit in well with your company, your team, and your goals.  You will be the architect of synergy within your company.  This synergy builds a great team and a company that can run without you.  The crowning event of synergy is the grooming of a general manager so that you, the business owner, can step away from the day-to-day operations.

This is what sets your company apart from the rest.
