Goodwill is Good PR: Change Lives While Marketing Your Business

Can your business afford NOT to give?  A recent Cone/Roper study on cause-related marketing revealed:

  • 85% of consumers said a company’s commitment to a social issue is important when deciding which companies they want to see doing business in their local community.
  • Price and quality being equal, 76% of consumers would be likely to switch to a brand or retailer associated with a good cause.
  • 83% of consumers have a more positive image of companies that support causes the customer cares about.

Strategic philanthropy or cause-related marketing links your company to a worthy cause.  It enhances your company’s image, increases customer loyalty and provides a competitive edge.  With proper promotion it can generate positive news coverage as media outlets welcome the chance to cover good news.

Most important, cause-related marketing offers an opportunity to give something back and to help change people’s lives.

Burton Snowboards and dHz Media to Bring Chill to Calgary

February 11, 2005. Calgary - dHz Media announced today that it has been selected as the public relations firm to bring Chill to Calgary.  dHz Media  will work with Burton Snowboards to bring the snowboarding program for at-risk and disadvantaged youth to Calgary next season.  To launch the program in Calgary, $40,000 must be raised to cover the costs of equipment rentals, instruction, and social services support.

Sponsors will generate positive public awareness for their company by supporting Chill and participating in media events, promotions and photo opportunities.

"This is a great cause.  When I was young, it didn't matter if you had failed an exam, lost a job or got dumped by a girlfriend, you always felt better when you went up to the mountains.  At-risk youth need something to look forward to." says Scott Henderson, managing director of dHz Media.

"Anyone who has skied or 'boarded knows this program will inspire, provide hope and help keep kids off the streets. When you are contacted by myself or Chill, please give serious consideration to supporting this cause and helping to change young people’s lives in Calgary.”
