Greetings from CEO Deanna Rainey

While everyone in the Thompson Okanagan was gearing up for a great summer, I was packing sweaters and winter jackets to visit Sydney Australia, to attend Tourism B.C.’s “BC Downunder” trade mission.  This is the most organized and effective event I have attended, and once again major kudos to Tourism B.C.’s Geoff Sturgeon, Joanne Motta, and Cindy Gobin. Over 150 Canadian Specialist Travel Agents met with us on the first day, followed by 20 plus major tour operators from across Australia and New Zealand.

On Canada Day, T.B.C. and Canadian Tourism Commission's Donna Brinkhaus put on a wonderful event and luncheon for the nation’s top travel writers.  We were able to touch every aspect of the travel industry – wholesale, retail and media – and have top level attendees with standing room only.

Thanks again to everyone who put together this great event! Here’s to a great summer for all TOTA members, and keep watching….as our programs grow, so shall our team! We’ll be sending you some major announcements shortly. I look forward to seeing all of you at the TOTA Golf Tournament at Sun Rivers on Thursday, September 1, 2005.
