SOLAR COMMUNITY IN CANADA?

North America's first solar community will be located in our backyard in the Community of Okotoks. The Drake Landing Solar Community will see the creation of 52 homes that will meet at least 90% of the homes' space heating requirements through solar power alone. 

The Community is expected to reduce natural gas consumption by 65 - 75%, a total savings of 260 tonnes of Green House Gasses per year.  Each home in Drake Landing will be built with EMERCOR's Insulated Rimboard.  Up to 14% of the homes' total air infiltration can occur around the rim joists.  The Insulated rimboard turns a three-step process into one easy and sure way to install continuous R-14 insulation at the floor system.   Homeowners can expect comfortable, healthy housing, and energy efficiency year round.

EMERCOR has recently released a revised installation guide for the Insulated Rimboard panels.  The revised May 2005 guide outlines the installation sequence with our new joining detail using a lap joint.  The lap joint connection delivers continuous insulation with no thermal breaks between panel joints.  To download the latest version of the Insulated Rimboard Install guide,click here.

» EMERCOR Panels float?  With a weight capacity of 1200 lbs. EMERCOR panels have been used as a raft in the Calgary River Raft Race in support of the Canadian Paraplegic Association and the Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Society.  The panels' integrity was maintained despite being submerged in the river.  The EMERCOR Raft was recognized with the "Most Creative Raft" award.
