West Springs Cougar Ridge Community Clean Up & Environmental Expo – May 31st
The West Springs Cougar Ridge Community Association is hosting a Community Clean Up & Environmental Expo on Saturday, May 31st from 10am to 2pm. In conjunction with Clean Calgary Association, rain barrels and composters will be sold online, then available for pick up at the event on May 31st. You can pre-order your rainbarrels and composters online, by following the links for the event. This Community Clean up and Environmental Expo will be held in the Calgary Co-op parking lot at 85th Street and 9th Avenue SW. Please see www.wscr.ca for more details. Don’t delay, as all orders must be placed online by Tuesday, May 20th. Orders are welcome from residents living outside of West Springs and Cougar Ridge.

Idle Free Design Contest
Calling all artists with an interest in air quality and the environment! Clean Calgary Association is hosting a design contest for a decal that will be part of an Idle Free campaign. We are seeking a creative, convincing design that will inspire Calgarians to choose to be idle free. Calgarians who chose to become idle free, thus reducing their transportation-generated carbon dioxide emissions and improving air quality, will be able to display this decal in their car, at work, in school and at home.

by June 4th, 2008 - Clean Air Day.
The artist with the chosen design will be rewarded with an artist profile on our web site, their name displayed on the decal, and a number of prizes:

- $75 gift certificate from Elements the Patagonia Store
- A gift basket worth $150 from Community Natural Foods Ltd.
- $100 Gift Certificate to the Clean Calgary Association EcoStore

Dealing with Waste Paint
Q:
Dear Ashley,
My husband and I just moved into a new (used) house and we have inherited dozens of cans of old paint. Most of it doesn’t look fit for reuse and I couldn’t even tell you if the paint is latex or oil-based. What is a person to do with used paint in Calgary?
