THANKS TO THE GENEROSITY OF THE PEOPLE OF VANCOUVER, 6 LESS-PRIVILEGED FAMILIES NOW HAVE FURNISHED HOMES

On Friday and Saturday (June 5th and 6th), 1-800-RID-OF-IT Junk Removal picked up your gently used furniture, and donated it to 6 families that had nothing more than their clothes on their backs. 

WITH YOUR SUPPORT, WE BEAT OUR GOAL FOR THIS YEAR!

This was our first annual  HOUSEWARMING PARTY!  Our goal next year is to furnish 15 homes! We partnered with the Homestart Foundation, a front line agency that provides furniture to people who have been homeless and are now being rehomed in affordable housing.

FAMILIES HELPED

Thanks to your generosity we were able to help a single mom with a 2 week old baby, a family of 6 moving into a 1 bedroom apartment, a single mom with 3 children, an aunt with a niece and nephew and two single moms living on welfare. 

ITEMS COLLECTED

From you we collected 8 Sofas, 10 dressers, 10 night stands, 9 end tables, 4 easy chairs, 2 kitchen tables, 8 kitchen chairs, 4 book cases, 3 coffee tables, 3 desks, 3 desk chairs, 5 lamps, 3 TV's, 3 Microwaves, a car seat, a 'pack and play' baby crib, and a stroller. 

ONGOING NEED

If you have items but were unable to dontate them this weekend, Homestart picks up gently used items every week. Throughout the year, we offer our trucks to Homestart to assist with these pick-ups.
