Online learning is increasing access to learning opportunities for everyone. With that in mind, eCampusAlberta recently commissioned a study to research the experience that students with disabilities are having when accessing the consortium’s programs. The new report, Accessibility to eCampusAlberta for Persons with Disabilities: Systemic Challenges and Proposed Solutions, identifies ways to make eCampusAlberta courses and services as accessible as possible. The new Member Resources web page on the eCampusAlberta website provides many of the papers, videos and reports that were created through the Professional Development Fund (PDF) – in one location to make it easy for member institutions to share these resources with other members of the consortium. The projects funded through the PDF, and the resulting resources, are a wealth of information about providing high quality online education. More
Regina resident Scott Wiseman is well on his way to the career of his dreams, after enrolling in Olds College's Animal Health Technology diploma program, which has been offered online through eCampusAlberta for several years. The 23-year-old will become a veterinary technician upon graduation. More
Anyone seeking a career change, and who has a keen interest in helping others, should consider Grant MacEwan University’s online Disability Management in the Workplace program. Disability management in the workplace is a growing field and graduates of this program find jobs in government agencies, human resources, insurance companies, health care institutions and many other sectors.
