Why Vote? Would you ever want to be a school trustee someday? Do you think the job of trustee would be difficult? These are important questions to consider with a civic election coming October 18. These are also some of the questions we asked Nellie McClung School students to answer when they visited the CBE's Education Centre in April. During their visit, the students also learned about decision making at the CBE and took to the Boardroom to discuss and debate matters related to education. View video clips of their visit. This will take approximately 5 minutes to complete, and this information will be used for future communications planning. Opportunity to Provide Input to Government on Future of EducationAlberta Education recently released new information on the following initiatives: Inspiring Education, Setting the Direction, and Inspiring Action. Visit their website for more information. The government is inviting input from the community on the Inspiring Action Discussion Paper and has posted two surveys online. More surveys will be coming in the next couple months. The feedback received through these surveys will guide the final draft of the School or Education Act (the legislation detailing how public education will be delivered in Alberta). The Board of Trustees encourages you to make your voice heard - your perspectives will help shape the future of Alberta's youth.
