Safety Rules & Facility Policies

To all facility users:

Safety is EVERYONE’s responsibility!

In this facility, it is expected that  ALL of the management, staff and users follow and administer the following rules and regulations.

Keep in mind though, that user-groups such as “The Grange” or Agency may have other rules.  As long as they do not conflict or contradict TSC rules then these groups are free to administer to THEIR members or employees, any rule or restriction they adopt in ADDITION to ours.

With this in mind, in the safe functional operation of this facility, there are actually three distinct levels of offences to be familiar with:

Firearm Safety

Breaking one of these rules can lead to a death or serious injury. You will see firearm safety reminders posted throughout our facility, and not just in the range area. All staff, members and users of this range must follow these rules at all times. They are clear and simple.

Due to the seriousness of these RULES, the penalty for breaking one of these rules either intentionally or unintentionally will result in a being banned from the entire facility, a letter being sent to the CFO’s office or even criminal prosecution.

  1. TREAT EVERY FIREARM AS THOUGH IT WERE LOADED
  2. NEVER COVER ANYTHING WITH THE MUZZLE THAT YOU DO NOT WISH TO DESTROY
  3. KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF OF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON TARGET
  4. ALWAYS BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET

Range Safety

Breaking one of these rules can lead to an injury to yourself or others. You will see reminders posted throughout our facility, and not just in the range area.

Due to the nature of these rules, the penalty for breaking one of these rules either intentionally or unintentionally could result in a number of actions depending on the nature of the negligent act up to and including loss of facility shooting privileges.

  1. Everyone must wear proper ear and eye protection while in the shooting bays.
  2. No one is to use the facility while under the influence of prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs or alcohol.
  3. All guns will be cased or bagged while being moved outside of the ranges and safe handling area.
  4. Guns will only be loaded on the firing line.
  5. Keep your muzzle pointed below the top of the range backstop.
  6. Nobody will move in front of the firing line for any reason, without the approval of a Range Officer.
  7. Only properly certified shooters are authorized to draw a loaded handgun from a holster.
  8. Only ammunition of the types and calibers authorized will be used. When in doubt ask the staff.

Range Etiquette

These policies help ensure the efficient, safe operation of the facility. They also give a level of comfort to the other users as these practices allow others to use the facility safely and without hindrance.

Once again, the penalty for breaking these policies will depend on the nature of the transgression. However, if a user breaks these policies, they may be disallowed permanently from using our facility to shoot in.

  1. Members are responsible for their guests and their actions.
  2. All visitors will properly sign a waiver before using the facility.
  3. Casing and uncasing of firearms must be done in the booth.
  4. An unlicensed shooter MUST be supervised at all times by an appropriately licensed non-shooting person.
  5. When firearms are not in use on the range they must be unloaded and left pointing safely down range.
  6. When not needed in the lane, boxes, bags and cases should then be placed at the rear ledge.
  7. Safety benches will remain in place unless shooters are holster certified.
  8. Targets should be placed at shooter’s shoulder level.
  9. Holstered guns are only allowed on the range or in the ready room.
  10. For health reasons, no food or drinks are allowed on the range.
  11. Only one SHOOTER at a time per lane.
  12. Misfired rounds of ammunition will be placed in containers on the back shelf.
  13. Report any damage to the range operator (front counter) immediately.
  14. No black powder is allowed in the facility.

I hope this will alleviate any potential issues. Remember that by following all of the rules above, we protect the facility and ourselves for present and future shooters alike.
